Acetone

Acetone, or propanone, is an organic compound with the formula (CH₃)₂CO. It is the simplest and smallest ketone. It is a colourless, highly volatile and flammable liquid with a characteristic pungent odour.

Applications

Acetone can be used as a solvent in paints, plastics and resins Bisphenol-A, MIBK, MIBC etc. As a diluent for transporting acetylene. Acetone is a good cleaner. It has Low surface tension and removes all types of residues, oxides, oils and contaminants. It quickly evaporates and leaves no residue. Do not use with energized equipment. As with any chemical product used, material compatibility must be determined on a non-critical area prior to use. Acetone is also majorly used for heat treatment.
